When it comes to planning a wedding few things are as important as the bridal gown. But how do you get to capture incredible beach wedding photos like these and still save the dress? One savvy Fraser Island bride has come up with the perfect idea.

Gold Coast couple Mark and Tara have enjoyed a long love affair with Fraser Island- making an annual pilgrimage up the Queensland Coast to holiday with friends.

One lazy January afternoon, as they took in a gorgeous Fraser Island sunset, Mark dropped down on one knee and proposed.

"It was just perfect," Tara said. "Mark had arranged or my dad to come down to the beach with a camera and take photos of the proposal. There was no one around except us and, of course, I said yes."

The couple celebrated their engagement long into the night with their "Fraser family" and it was clear there was nowhere better host their wedding.

In January 2016, the couple married on Sunset Beach at Kingfisher Bay Resort, exactly one year to the day after Mark's magical proposal.

While some brides will subscribe to a "pain is beauty" mantra to achieve an amazing look on their big day, Tara swears her custom-made wedding gown was the most comfortable dress she's ever worn.

"I absolutely love it," she said. "By the end of our photoshoot it was completely drenched and full of sand but I don't regret a single thing because we captured some of the most amazing photos."

"I'm now getting it made into something I can wear again- on our wedding anniversary each year."
